March 12, 2025 (Waukegan, IL) Judge Luis Berrones of the Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois entered judgment for the plaintiffs in the amount of $168,960.71 following a three day, jury trial. The plaintiffs, who are employees of American Backflow & Fire Prevention, Inc., were represented by the Law Office of George W. Svoboda. The three individual plaintiffs in the case complained that their fire sprinkler industry certifications were wrongfully revoked by ASSE International. The jury agreed after hearing testimony over three days by both sides, finding that the plaintiffs were damaged due to lost wages and the cost of receiving the certifications.
February 10, 2025 (Chicago, IL) George W. Svoboda presented oral arguments for the petitioner before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Seventh Circuit in the case of American Backflow & Fire Prevention, Inc. v. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The petitioner argued that the NLRB wrongfully ruled that it violated a settlement agreement and that it did so without a hearing on the merits. The case was heard and taken under advisement by the panel: Frank H. Easterbrook, Circuit Judge; Ilana Diamond Rovner, Circuit Judge and John Z. Lee, Circuit Judge.
